Easy Peasy Crochet Doll

Easy Peasy Crochet Doll

It’s Tuesday once again and what better way to start the day but to crochet (as I always do)! Here’s another free  pattern for you to try. It’s my Easy Peasy Crochet Doll. You can turn this into a keychain, or attach it to a picture frame for a unique gift!

This cute little doll is approximately 2” tall and made with 3-ply crochet cotton thread and size 8 hook. The pattern is worked in continuous rounds and uses US terms. It also requires minimal sewing (I hate sewing tiny parts in amis).

We’re gonna start off with the body.

With color A, form magic cirlcle.
Round 1         6 sc into the ring (6)
Round 2         inc in each st (12)
Round 3         [sc in 1st st, inc in next] 6x (18)
Round 4         [sc in 1st 2 st, inc in next] 6x (24)
Round 5         [sc in 1st 3 st, inc in next] 6x (30)
Round 6-10    sc in each st (30)
Round 11       [sc in 1st 3 st, dec in next] 6x (24)
Round 12       sc around (24)
Round 13       [sc in 1st 2 st, dec in next] 6x (18)
Round 14        sc around (18)
Round 15      [sc in 1st  st, dec in next] 6x (12)

Stuff body firmly with polyfill.

Fasten off and change to color B (skin). We will continue working on the head.

Round 16         sc ineach st (12)
Round 17         [sc in 1st st, inc in next] 6x (18)
Round 18         [sc in 1st 2 st, inc in next] 6x (24)
Round 19         [sc in 1st 3 st, inc in next] 6x (30)
Round 20         [sc in 1st 4 st, inc in next] 6x (36)
Round 21- 25      sc in each st (36)
Round 26          [sc in 1st 4 st, dec in next] 6x (30)
Round 27          [sc in 1st 3 st, dec in next] 6x (24)
Round 28          [sc in 1st 2 st, dec in next] 6x (18)
Round 29          [sc in 1st  st, dec in next] 6x (12)
Round 26          dec in each st (6)

Stuff head firmly with fiberfill. Fasten off and sew top of the head to close.

With black thread, sew several strands across the doll's forehead. This will be the doll's hair. Then find the center and sew the strands together. Fasten off and weave in ends. Embroider the doll's  eyes and mouth using black thread. You can also use beads for the eyes.

For the doll's shawl, use color C. Hold the doll upside down and attach thread onto the first round of the doll's head. This round is worked on the front loops only.

Round 1          sc in each st (12)
Round 2          working on both loops, ch 1, turn, sc in each                                  st (12)
Round 3         ch 1, turn, inc in 1st st,  sc in next 10 st, inc in last                            (14)
Round 4           ch 1, turn, inc in 1st st,  sc in next 12 st, inc in last                          (16)
Round 5         ch 1, turn, sc in each st (16)

Round 6          ch 1, turn, inc in 1st st,  sc in next 14 st, inc in last                          (18)
Round 7         ch 1, turn, sc in each st (18)
Round 8         ch 1, turn, dec in 1st st, sc in next 14 st, dec in                             last
Fasten off and weave in ends.

For the doll's hood use the same color as the doll's shawl. Form magic circle.

Round 1         8 sc into the ring (8)
Round 2         inc in each st (16)
Round 3         [sc in 1st st, inc in next] 8x (24)
Round 4          [sc in 1st 2 st, inc in next] 8x (32)
Round 5          [sc in 1st 3 st, inc in next] 8x (40)
Round 6-7      sc in each st (40)
Round 8          [sc in 1st 3 st, dec in next] 8x (32)
Round 9-12     sc in each st (32)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Stretch the hood a bit and fit it diagonally onto the doll's head with the hair sticking out. Sew hood around the doll's head.

Ain't it easy? You can do so much with this little doll. You can dress it up, add embellishments and do pretty much anything that your imagination permits! Here's another version...

Crochet Paperclip Bookmarks (What To Do With Left-over Yarns)

It's a bright and sunny morning! I bet most of us have our hands full today and what better way to relax and unwind? CROCHET! Yey!

What I'm going to share with you today is another great idea for give-aways or tokens. This project takes only a few minutes to make and the best thing about it is that you can use your left-over yarns or threads! You just need a large paperclip (colored clips works best), left-over yarn or thread (I used 3-ply crochet cotton thread on this) and your trusty crochet hook (mine's a size 8 hook, my favorite!).

Let's start with the butterfly paperclip bookmark.

For the butterfly, I got the pattern here.

http://melscrochetedcreations.blogspot.com/2013/05/fluttering-butterfly-free-pattern.html

Place the paperclip inside the butterfly (you can either glue it on or sew it, i prefer to sew the paperclip on), fold the butterfly into 2 and sew together the edges. Here's how it should look like.

Now, on to the flower bookmark. The pattern for the flower is from http://veryberryhandmade.co.uk/my-crochet-patterns/a-frothy-flower/.

And here's how it should look like...

Another idea is the Hearts bookmark. The heart pattern is from http://www.planetjune.com/blog/free-crochet-patterns/love-hearts/ and here's what the finished item looks like.

I've also tried using animal appliques for my paperclip bookmarks. You can try and search the net for animal appliques that you might want to use. I got mine from a Japanese crochet book.

They're so cute, aren't they? So grab your hook and thread and start to crochet!

Happy crocheting!

My Cute Little Ami Bears

So lately I’ve been busy crocheting little ami bears for souvenirs. A party shop near us commissioned me to make them in just a week’s time! I thought, hey, 75 ami bears in a week? I’d like to see myself try and meet the deadline. Fortunately, after a week of almost sleepless nights and numb fingers, I finished the orders! I love how cute they turned out! And I equally love what the client used for packaging!

Anyway, I posted the pictures on one of the crochet groups that I am in and I was overwhelmed by all the positive feedbacks that it got. So, I’m sharing the pattern for my cute little bears. This is free, and you can do whatever you like with the finished item. However, respect the designer. Don’t claim the pattern as your own or try to sell and reproduce the pattern without my permission. It’ll be awesome if you could show me your finished works and if you could link it back to me...

Mad About Ami!

It's 11:38 pm here in the Philippines and I'm just taking a break from my WIP. I'm currently working on 60 pcs of souvenirs: 30 pcs of tiny ami dolls and 30 pcs of tiny ami bear heads. So far, I have completed the dolls and half of the bear heads. Well, anyway, I have mentioned on my first blog that I have a thing for amigurumi. Who wouldn't? There are a lot of cute ami patterns and I have tried almost everything that I saw on the net. I specifically like those from Little Yarn Friends. Here are some of my amis...

Aren't they adorable? If you want to make your own cupcake animal, you can find the pattern here  https://www.facebook.com/littleyarnfriends

More stories to come.. Happy crocheting!

YES, I HAVE OCD (Obsessive Crocheting Disorder)!

OCD. Obsessive Crocheting Disorder. I am an addict. I'm hooked! I started crocheting 5 years ago, thanks to my good friend (who is in our Lord's embrace now) who got me into this art. She taught me the basics of the craft (foundation ch, sc, dc, etc). I coudn't get enough so I researched, watched YouTube tutorials and practiced, practiced, practiced! I personally enjoy making amigurumis, i can say amis are my forte! Well anyway, this is my first ever crochet project. I didn't use a pattern for it but I love how it turned out. I was able to sell a number of these purses by the way! I'll be posting more of my projects soon, and maybe throw in some free patterns too! Happy crocheting!
